Funhouse was a lifestyle boutique featuring independent brands and artist made goods. The entire concept, branding, merchandising, and interior design was done by myself with the support of my husband (who helped come up with the name) and my operations manager Helen Bradberry who helped me keep all the moving parts organized.
The inspiration was bold patterns, wooden fixtures, and vintage art. Most of the furniture was thrifted or vintage purchased at antique stores. Our entryway hosted a community library with zines and books on feminism, queer identity, black liberation, community organizing, art and music.
The space was originally a mechanics shop and had not been updated in decades.
